I was aboard the Bush on this cruise. We went to New York and then back to Norfolk to service Submarine Squadron Six. Copied below is an excerpt from the Turtle that I also Edited from the October 1960 issue. Note the mention of our newly adopted ship's motto.

"During the time of her absence, the Bushnell visited New York where the crew enjoyed a delightful liberty in the biggest city in the world and then on to Norfolk to service submarines of SUBRON SIX. Within minutes after tying up, subs were alongside and three weeks of outstanding tender service began. Upon completion of the tour, the comments of all officers of SUBRON SIX were unanimous in their gratitude for a job well done.
Captain Harry Davey in his congratulatory remarks given to all officers aboard the Bushnell shortly after underway, said that all departments performed an outstanding job and that he was particularly impressed by the excellent attitude of all hands in their job performance. The USS Bushnell truly expressed in Norfolk our new motto, "Gaudete Serviamus" GLADLY WE SERVE".
As for the cars on the boat deck, I don't know about all the others, but there was a baby-blue '56 Ford convertible onboard that at the time belonged to Father John Condit. He shortly thereafter, sold it to me after he bought a new Buick Roadmaster. The Ford had "USS Bushnell Bluenotes" painted on the side and was used to transport the band around New York and Norfolk as we played engagements at USO's and Service Clubs at both ports.

The Bush was one of the few ships in the US Navy that allowed crewmembers
to take their personnal automobiles along with them
when changing homeports for extended times.
The Ship often resembled a Ferry while underway.
